Libraries Week 8 – 12 Oct 2018

Our dual themes for National Libraries Week here at Sussex are wellbeing and community. This guest blogpost, from School of Psychology reader John Drury and PhD student Selin Tekin Guven, touches on both, discussing the way in which communities come together in the wake of a disaster not only for support but to campaign for justice and social change.

Monday 8th Oct

Children’s Rhyme and Story Time, 3 – 4pm, Family Room

Join us for free fun singing and story reading sessions. Bring your children to our new Family Room for rhymes and stories. Suitable for ages 0 - 4

Take a break from studying and relax with a board game. Join the Sussex Board Games Society for a free afternoon of board games in the Library Café.

Morning Mindfulness, 11 – 11.45am, Training and Viewing Room

Come and learn about mindfulness in our free informal sessions. There will be a short introduction to mindfulness and an opportunity to de-stress for 30 minutes of mindfulness and relaxation exercises

Friday 12th Oct

Come and discover what your local libraries can offer at our free drop in event. Pop in and get information on the services and events provided by public libraries across Sussex

Upload a #bookface photo to your Instagram  or Twitter  account during Libraries Week (8 – 13 October), tag @sussexlibrary and we’ll enter you into a competition to win some fabulous Library goodies.
Search Bookface Sussex on Library Search for ideas, or check shelf marks PS, PZ or ML 420 using the Library’s digital floorplans.
You could visit a public library or use one of your own books.
Please be considerate of other Library users and take photos against a bookshelf or wall.
