Biography

Aaron M. Kahn is a Lecturer in Spanish, taking up the post in September 2008. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, Aaron studied English Education and Spanish at Ohio University. He then came to the UK in 2001 to read for a DPhil in Golden Age Spanish Literature at the University of Oxford (Linacre College), which he completed in 2005. Aaron is married to Dr Alison Kahn, an anthropologist and documentary filmmaker. Together they run the Oxford Academy of Documentary Film, which provides tuition on the use of digital media and editing for research purposes. They married in 2005 and have a daughter Helena, born in 2006, a son Seth born in April 2009, and a second son Lukas born in January 2012.

RESEARCH INTERESTS: Golden Age Spanish literature, history and culture, particularly the expression of political thought in various genres of literature. Aaron has just recently published a book on the topic, focussing on pre-Lopean Spanish playwrights of the late sixteenth century. In addition, he has given numerous papers at international conferences in the UK and the US and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Other interests include general Spanish and European history and culture, film, religion, politics, and the connection between sport (particularly baseball) and society.
