New online staff forum for language exchange

Do you want to practise your languages, or join a community of Sussex staff who are interested in cultural exchange?

Then join the Sussex Staff Language Exchange, an online forum for all staff who want to:

  • meet language tandem partners
  • arrange a language meet-up
  • arrange events such as watching a foreign-language film
  • ask/discuss language questions
  • discuss topical cultural issues
  • etc. (it's up to you!)

The Sussex Centre for Language Studies, in collaboration with IT Services, have set up this forum to give staff across the campus the chance to connect with each other through language and cultural exchange.

Teaching Fellow Laura Mark says: “We know our campus is full of language enthusiasts and people from different cultural backgrounds.

“We have hosted a Language Café for staff during previous years’ One World Week. The attendance at these events has been excellent and showed there is a demand for language exchange opportunities within the Sussex staff community.

“We hope to create a hub for all staff to make the most of this rich cultural environment.”

To join the forum, send Laura Mark (L.S.Mark@sussex.ac.uk) a quick email using your University of Sussex email address.

You are also welcome at a launch event at the Language Learning Centre (Arts A) on Monday 18 March from 1.30-2.30pm to find out more about the new Sussex Staff Language Exchange.
