General information on the weekly courses
Weekly courses are offered at lunchtimes or in the evening with each course meeting lasting for an hour and a half (except where stated otherwise). Classes take place at the University campus and usually run for two terms (twenty weeks) from September/October; 10 weeks before Christmas, 10 weeks after.
Intensive double courses are also available in some languages. These classes meet twice a week for the first ten weeks and continue once a week for a further ten weeks after Christmas, subject to sufficient interest and payment.
After Christmas it is possible to enrol on taster courses which last nine weeks.
You can read general descriptions for each stage of language learning to help you decide which class may suit you.
Course times
Daytime courses are from 12.15 until 1.45pm. We advise using public transport, as parking spaces are limited during this period.
Evening courses are from 6.30 until 8.00pm, unless otherwise stated.
Open course term dates 2013-14
Autumn
30 September to 6 December 2013 for 10 weeks.
Spring
20 January to 28 March 2014 for 10 weeks.
Summer - BSL only
7 April to 13 June 2014.
Fees
Reduced fees are available for those on full state benefits, senior citizens on state retirement pensions only, full-time students, employees and alumni of the University of Sussex.
We regret that normally no refunds are made unless it is necessary to cancel a course.
You are advised that days, times and tutors may differ from those stated in this brochure.
