A part-time course to prepare for the IELTS examination.
Who is the course for?
The IELTS preparation course is suitable for any adult student aged eighteen years or over who wishes to improve study skills in English and prepare for the IELTS examination itself. Students should be at intermediate level or above.
Course description
Classes take place during the Autumn, Spring and Summer university terms. The courses are eleven weeks long (weeks 2-12 of each term). There are normally six hours of tuition per week. The examination consists of four modules:
- listening
- reading
- writing
- speaking
Course aims
The programme aims to:
- improve students' study skills and prepare them for academic study in English
- prepare students for all modules of the IELTS examination
The IELTS exam
The full exam is held regularly throughout the year. Exam centres can be found through the IELTS website: www.ielts.org. Exam application forms may be obtained from the Executive Officer in the Sussex Centre for Language Studies.
