New staff PCs are set up with a standard set of software although applications are often customised for individual members of staff. Teaching PCs in lecture theatres and seminar rooms have the same software as student PCs.

Excel is an electronic spreadsheet program that can be used for storing, organizing and manipulating data. The types of data that a cell can hold include numbers, text or formulas which are used for calculations usually involving data contained in other cells. Excel include a number of built in formulas used for common tasks.
Excel is licensed for both on campus computers and staff and student home use under the Education for Enrollment Solutions (EES) agreement held by the university.
