Backup services

1. Stand-alone computers and Laptops can be backed up onto a central backup server via the Crashplan application which is available from ITS. Crashplan is NOT intended for use on large volumes of data of Over 50 GB.
2. After the Lifetime of a research project ITS can provide a service where we can archive data to tape.

Napier Central Linux computer

There is a new Linux server at Sussex, which is named Napier and was introduced as an alternative to the UNIX server from June 2011.

An Exceed onDemand (EoD) server has been installed on Napier and will open up the world of X-windows applications to Windows users. Our tests have shown it to be remarkably fast.
