Software update: Code42 CrashPlan

Posted: Tue 10 Jul 2018, 3:00pm.

If you’re using a laptop or a Mac or Linux computer then you should take steps to ensure your data is backed up. If your hard drive fails or if your computer is lost or damaged then you’ll need a reliable data backup service to restore your files.

IT Services provides a backup service for your University data, previously known as CrashPlan Pro. This software was recently updated and the new version is called Code42 CrashPlan. You can use this if you have a laptop we’ve provided, a Mac or Linux computer from IT Services, or if you use your home computer for University work.

If you see a popup on your computer asking you to log in to Code42 CrashPlan, please use your Sussex username and password, and if it asks for a server address please enter crashplan.sussex.ac.uk

You can find more information about this service on the Code42 CrashPlan page.

If you use a Windows desktop computer at Sussex then anything you save to your N Drive or G Drive will be backed up automatically.
