Staff access to the Application Jukebox

A new version of the Application Jukebox, which many students and staff use to access a range of specialist software, has been released. The older version will continue to work for now, but essential updates are about to be applied to Windows, and once this is done only the updated version of Jukebox will load.

IT Services have installed the updated version on all student computers, so these will continue to load normally. However, staff will need to apply the update themselves.

Who is affected and when?

Staff who use the Application Jukebox will need to run the update.

Application Jukebox will stop working once the Microsoft updates have been applied. This is expected next week.

What do you need to do?

The update is already available, so staff should run it as soon as possible. Your computer will be restarted without warning once the update has run, so please ensure you don’t have any unsaved work open when you run the update. You should also ensure that Application Jukebox isn’t open when you run the update.

To update Application Jukebox:

  1. Find the Software Center in the Start menu of your computer. If you can’t immediately see it, try typing “software” into the search box in the Start menu.
  2. Run the Software Center.
  3. Look for Update Jukebox client - V9
  4. Select this and click the Install button
