Kaspersky at Sussex

Posted: Wed 3 Jan 2018, 3:58pm.

During the summer of 2017, all student workstations at Sussex University were upgraded to Windows 10 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus was removed and replaced with Microsoft’s Windows Defender software. However, Kaspersky is still installed as the anti-virus software on most non-student PCs and laptops at Sussex.

In light of concerns about the continued use of Russian anti-virus software, and following advice from the UK government, IT Services will be working to replace Kaspersky on all remaining desktop computers, beginning with staff and researcher desktops in the next few weeks. We will contact team leads individually when their needs have been identified, but if you are concerned that the nature of your research could expose your data to risk, please contact the IT Service Desk.

The installation of Windows 10 on staff and researcher computers is expected later in 2018.
