Issue with email blacklisting

University of Sussex email addresses are currently being blacklisted by BT, NTLworld, Talk2, Talk Talk, and Plusnet. If you send emails to addresses provided by these companies from your Sussex account, you may receive a rejection message.

It is relatively common for large organisations’ email domains to be blacklisted by Internet Service Providers. One contributing factor may be Sussex email accounts sending spam messages, which can happen when users follow links in phishing emails. Please ensure you have read our guidelines on identifying phishing emails.

IT Services continues to work with users who have fallen victim to phishing attacks to stop their accounts sending spam, and we are attempting to resolve the blacklist issue with the affected providers.
