IT Services are currently working to resolve two issues which are affecting logins to services this morning. Users are experiencing issues accessing the Box.com website and the Oracle database (yellow screens).
This is due to problems with our Windows authentication systems and is unrelated to this morning's changes to the eduroam network.
UPDATE: 13 Nov 2017 - 9:32am
The authentication issue that was affecting access to Box.com has now been resolved. We are working with Oracle to resolve the intermittent issue affecting access to yellow screens.
UPDATE: 13 Nov 2017 - 10:24am
We continue to work with Oracle to resolve the issue affecting access to yellow screens (CMS).
If you are using a Windows 7 computer and you're unable to log in to yellow screens, please use the following workaround:
- Ensure you have CMS (yellow screens) closed
- Click on Start and open the Control Panel
- Find and open Java
- Go the Security tab and move the slider to Medium
- Click ok to save your changes
- Re-open yellow screens and accept the security warning
These instructions should work for the majority of users, but if you continue to have problems please contact the IT Service Desk on 8090.
UPDATE: 13 Nov 2017 - 3:30pm
'Yellow Screens' (aka Oracle Web Forms or CMS) will be taken offline this evening at 2000 for about 30 minutes in order to provide a more permanent fix to this problem where some people could not access the system today. Following the fix, next time you log into it you may be asked for your permission to run the application, possibly more than once. You should accept the prompt and tick the box saying 'do not ask again', and you may also need to select 'run with the latest version' if you are prompted for the version of Java to run. You will probably have seen these messages before; they will be repeated here because a newer version of the program will have been installed with a new certificate.
If you made the changes detailed earlier (changing Java security settings in Control Panel) to allow your PC to work with Web Forms, then please change this back tomorrow to ensure your system remains secure.
Please call the IT Service Desk if you have any problems.
The fix has been installed and the Web Forms (yellow screens) service is running. When you start the program for the first time, it may take some time for the login screen to appear, and it may appear to stop. If this happens, please refresh your browser (click the refresh icon or press the F5 key); you may need to do this more than once. You will also be presented with prompts to run the application, which you can accept and tick the box saying 'do not ask again'. Also if you receive a message about java versions, choose 'run with the latest version'.
If you continue to experience difficulties please contact the ITS Service Desk (8090).
