We're investigating a problem which is preventing staff from getting access to some systems this morning, including Windows Remote.
General logins to campus computers and connections to file systems are not affected and are available as normal but we're sorry for the inconvenience this problem is causing for some staff and will restore access to all services as soon as we can.

Most other logins, including access to general staff and student computers, are not affected and are available as normal but we're sorry for the inconvenience this problem is causing for some staff and students and we'll restore normal access as soon as we can.
Technical details
The fault has been traced to a process which updates Active Directory groups from the University central database. We're working to correct the problem and restore the right AD group memberships as soon as we can.

We've identified the fault behind this disruption and are running a process to fix it. This will take some hours to complete but service access will gradually return to normal over the course of the day.
Most logins, including access to general staff and student computers, are not affected and continue to be available as normal but we're sorry for the inconvenience this problem has been causing for some staff and students.
Technical details
The fault has been traced to a process which updates Active Directory groups from the University central database. A script to repopulate the affected group memberships is now running and, as groups are rebuilt, staff and students should find their access returning to normal.
Staff and students should be able to login to all services as normal this morning, Friday 24 February.
There were problems logging into some systems yesterday including Windows Remote, Application Jukebox and computers in Informatics teaching labs. Some staff also experienced problems with printing.
We're sorry for all the disruption this caused yesterday. The fault was traced to the connection between authentication systems and the University's central database and a process was set off yesterday morning to fix the issue. This took several hours to complete but all access should be back to normal this morning.
