New IT Service CentreThe new IT Service Centre opens in Shawcross from Monday 30 January with over 140 computers for students and fully refurbished facilities.

The centre features large, open-plan computing areas that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using the keypad at times when the service desk is closed. The rooms are equipped with a mix of Windows PCs and Macs and all of the desks have power outlets to make it easier for students to charge up devices while on campus. There's also a new training room and a drop-in area for laptop users.

The service desk area has been redesigned to make it easier for students and staff to get help with technology-related questions and will be open 8.30am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday during term time.

Work has been taking place since July to refresh the facilities, increasing the number of computers and creating a more pleasant environment in which to study. A huge amount of effort has gone into ensuring the doors could open for the start of the Spring Term but there are still some finishing touches to be made: printing facilities are not quite ready but are expected to be fully available within a few days.

The temporary office in York House, which has been the home of the IT Service Desk since the summer, will close on Friday 27 January.
