We're planning a major upgrade to wi-fi systems on Thursday 15 December when we will complete work rescheduled from earlier in the term. We'll do our best to keep disruption to a minimum but all wi-fi users are likely to notice some interruption during the course of the day. Work will start at 7.00am and wireless connections will be unavailable for 1-2 hours in every part of the campus as we upgrade each part of the infrastructure in turn. Kings Road residents will also be affected.
We hope to restore coverage across the campus from 6.00pm onwards.
Wired internet connections using network sockets in residences and offices will not be affected by this work. Campus computers in offices, the Library and student computer rooms should also be available as normal.
We'll be updating software and settings across the network to fix a number of issues which have been reported by staff and students this term. Although there will be a bit of disruption during the maintenance period, the update should deliver a number of improvements to the service.
UPDATE: 15 Dec 2016 - 4:27pm
Today's wi-fi maintenance work is continuing with connections restored in most areas. We have now completed the upgrade in these areas and network connections are available as normal:
- buildings on the west side of the main campus including Arts, Jubilee, Falmer, the Sports Centre and the Library
- Northfield and Kings Road residences
- Lewes Court, Park Village, Stanmer Court, Shawcross
- remaining residences
- buildings on the east side of the campus including Chichester, Pevensey, JMS, Freeman, Sussex House and offices in the AMEX stadium
