We will be making a routine upgrade to the campus web servers tomorrow, Thursday 19 March, but users of Sussex web sites should not notice any disruption. Work will start at around 8.00am.
Technical details
A number of software packages will be updated and Apache, PHP, Oracle (client) and OpenSSL services will be brought up to current versions in order to protect against the latest security vulnerabilities and patch outstanding bugs. This will also allow us to make use of the some of the new features present in these later releases.
The new version of PHP (5.6.5) has been tested on development servers without any issues but if you maintain a web page which is not compatible with the new version, please contact us for advice.
UPDATE: 18 Mar 2015 - 7:43pm
We've decided to reschedule the upgrade to the campus web servers to allow a few extra days for testing and will confirm the new time in the next few days.
