A number of services are currently unavailable including Sussex Direct, Study Direct and the central administration database.
Services which require logins, including student email, are also affected. Students are also currently unable to login to campus PCs in the Library, Shawcross and other computer rooms.
We are investigating these problems urgently and working to restore services as soon as possible.

There is major disruption this afternoon across a number of services including student email and logins to student PCs, Sussex Direct, Study Direct and other services which require access to the central administration database.
The problems have been traced to a hardware fault and we are taking urgent action to re-route services onto back-up systems. If all goes to plan, we are hoping to begin restoring services from around 2:30pm, providing we can resolve all of the outstanding issues by that time.
We apologise for the frustration this is causing.

Study Direct is now back online but it is taking us longer than expected to restore other services.
There has been disruption to several services this afternoon, including student email, logins to campus PCs and Sussex Direct. The problems are due to a hardware fault and we have been working to transfer services to back-up systems. However, due to the nature of the fault, it may be some time before services are working normally again.
This afternoon's issues are causing a lot of inconvenience across the campus and we are working hard to return services as soon as we can.

We have made further progress and are now starting to return more services. Sussex Direct is working again and it should now be possible to login to campus PCs.
Student email is still not working normally - if you manage to login, it may appear temporarily that your inbox is empty. This is just because the mail systems are not yet fully reconnected but your email is safe and we are working to return that as soon as we can.
This afternoon's problems have caused considerable disruption across the campus. We apologise for all the inconvenience to students and staff and are working hard to restore all remaining services as soon as we can.
Please note that due to this afternoon's problems, the options and electives system has been closed temporarily and will re-open tomorrow.
Services are now working normally after a number of problems yesterday afternoon. The options and electives system has also been open again from 9:00am this morning.
A hardware fault in one of the campus data centres led to a series of problems with campus IT systems yesterday. We were able to return most systems by around 4:00pm although it was later in the evening before all services were working normally, including student email.
We apologise for the frustration this caused to many students and staff yesterday and we are working to identify the underlying cause and make a permanent fix.
