The Online Help Desk (OHD) is a list of “frequently asked questions” (FAQs) about various aspects of the use of computers. The OHD database contains over 600 FAQs and is continuously maintained by IT Services staff. The OHD can be searched or browsed and is available online at:
There is also a direct link from the IT Services PC desktop to the OHD via the icon:
Based on queries from students and staff, many of the questions are specific to the services provided by IT Services here at Sussex. Questions are divided up into categories (for example Email, Word-processing, Internet etc) which in turn can be divided up into further categories, which themselves can be divided up into even more categories and so on. Please note that an individual FAQ can be assigned to more than one category, hopefully making it easier to find.
The “top ten” FAQs (of the past calendar month) are displayed on the OHD front page, giving an overview of any “hot topics” that might have been concerning the users of IT Services - for instance, last month one of the top ten FAQs was “How long does it take for my password to change (using MyAccounts)?” the answer to which can be found at:
sussex.ac.uk/its/helpdesk/faq?faqid=838It is possible for you to indicate whether or not a particular FAQ helped answer your query. If not, and if you are unable to find an answer in the Online Help Desk, then you can “request” a new FAQ on the topic using Sussex Forums at:

(NB: you do need to register to use these forums, but it is a quick and easy process).
