Some email groups are created manually on the Oracle database, but some are created dynamically from staff records. These latter email groups are usually populated by looking at a staff member's appointment record to determine which department and section they should appear in. It is done this way so that the lists won't need to be manually updated.
Because of this it is not generally possible to change where a staff member is located (for example you might appear in the support staff group but want to be in the teaching faculty group). The only way that this can be changed is if Human Resources change your appointment record. If the information is genuinely incorrect then HR can change this.
