How can I make my 'private' mailing list visible on the Sussex list index?

When a mailing list is set up as a private or private broadcast list, as standard it will not be listed on the main Sussex list index page. You can retain the main privacy features of your list but have it listed on the index page by changing one setting, as follows:

  1. Open your list's admin web page (https://lists.sussex.ac.uk/mailman/admin/listname, where listname is the name of your mailing list).
  2. Click the Privacy Options link.
  3. In the Privacy Options page, the first option shown is labelled 'Advertise this list when people ask what lists are on this machine?'. Select Yes on this option.
  4. Click the 'Submit Your Changes' button button to put the change into effect.

To reverse this effect (that is, to remove the list from the Sussex list index page), select No in the option described in step 3.

Please be aware that listing an otherwise private mailing list may result in increased and possibly unwanted email traffic to the list, whether or not it is discarded, rejected or moderated.
