I am unable to access a web page and am getting an error message that cookies need to be enabled. What does this mean?

In order to use many web pages (including the University of Sussex's Online Registration system) it is necessary for "cookies" to be enabled in your browser. A "cookie" is simply a small piece of data sent by a web server to a user's browser. Cookies may include login or registration identification, user preferences, online "shopping cart" information, etc.

Cookies are enabled by default in most browsers, but if you suspect they may have been disabled please check the tools, options or preferences menus and/or settings for the particular browser you are using and enable them.
