Biography

My first degree was in Sociology at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. I went straight into a MSc in Cities, Spaces and Society at the London School of Economics. After working for a few years as a research assistant in IDS for the Citizenship Development Research Centre, with the Participation, Power and Social Group, I got a scholarship to do my PhD at the Open University in the Geography Department, on the politics of Rubbish in Buenos Aires, following  the controversy around waste and cartoneros (rubbish pickers) after the 2001 economic, financial and social crisis.

Having children veered my interests towards feminist motherhood issues, especially breastfeeding, and towards a focus on nature connection and environmental change. I am interested in the ways in which we can generate personal and societal change towards more sustainable futures, and to investigate the ways in which different actors are experimenting with ways to generate this change.
