Spring Term Trips

Explore the UK with our student trips, and enjoy a great opportunity to meet other Sussex students! Our programme of trips for Spring 2019 is now available to view, below.

 International Students at Bath

Tickets for our spring 2019 trips and events can be purchased through the Online Shop from Monday, 4 February, except London Walking Tour, which will be available to book from Wednesday, 16 January.  We have also produced a helpful guide for how to use the Online Shop. Tickets are limited and usually sell out fast.

If bringing your family on a trip, a limited number of tickets have been allocated for students who wish to bring their families (dependant partners or children living in the UK). These will be available to purchase in cash in person from the International Student Support Office between 28 January - 1 February 2019

Stonehenge and Bath II

Date: Sunday, 5 May 2019

Time: 7:30 - 20:00

Price: £51

 A day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stonehenge and the ancient Roman city of Bath. In the morning, visit Stonehenge, the iconic monument that has inspired archaeologists and storytellers, alike.

Later on, wander through the streets of Bath with its gorgeous Georgian architecture, Roman ruins, and numerous museums and galleries. With its rich history, this beautiful city has inspired many artists and writers, including one of its most famous residents: Jane Austen. Finally, meet back up with the group to see the ancient Roman baths, fed by natural hot springs which have drawn visitors to the site for centuries.

Ticket price includes: return travel by private coach (including stops on campus and in the centre of Brighton), entry to Stonehenge and the Roman Baths.

London Walking Tour

Date: Saturday, 2 February 2019

Time: 9:00 - 19:30

Price: £20.00

Experience a wonderful introduction to this iconic city, and explore the city's long historical and diverse culture on this guided walking tour. Along the way you'll journey through some of the most iconic sights of London including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, and the South Bank.  

A highlight on this tour is a 'selfie treasure hunt' with a £20 Amazon voucher up for grabs. You will be challenged to take a collection of selfies with famous icons and landmarks, submit your selfies to the International Student Support Team who will vote for the best collection.

Ticket price inlcudes: return travel and tour by private coach (inlcuding return stops on campus and in the centre of Brighton),  and a Sussex Student Trip Leader.

Mayor's Parlor and Cream Tea

Experience a unique insight into local governance with a visit to the Mayor's Parlor. On this afternoon trip you will get to meet the Mayor of Brighton and take in a tour of the Council Chambers. You will take in the history of the Mayor's Office as well as see the beautiful antique furniture which comes from the Royal Pavilion. After the tour of the Mayor's Parlor there will be the opportunity to enjoy a cream tea at a local tea house (£5 - £7). 

Ticket price includes: Entry to the Mayor's Parlor (subsidised by International Student Support), a Sussex trip leader, price does not include cream tea. Meet the group outside Brighton Town Hall at 13.50. 

 

'The Lion King' - A trip to a West End Show

In collaboration with the Student Union's Buddy Scheme #oneworldsussexbuddies, International Student Support offers the opportunity to see the acclaimed West End Musical of 'Lion King' - inspired by the Walt Disney movie.

See the wonderful and extravagant costumes on stage in all their magnificence with our great tickets in the stalls, come and take advantage of our reduced group rates.

Ticket price includes: return travel by coach and theatre ticket. There will be time for you to have something to eat in London before the start of the show, but this is not included in the ticket price.

 

Hever Castle

Date: Saturday, 9 March 2019

Price: £25.00

Located in the beautiful Kent countryside, this childhood home of Henry the VIII 3rd wife Anne Boyeln boasts an impressive castle and grounds, with a moat and maze. You will have time to explore the castle and grounds as well as the surrounding area.

Ticket price includes: return travel by coach, entry to Hever Castle and Grounds, and Sussex trip leaders. 

 

Cambridge

By far one of the most beautiful and historically interesting cities in the UK, Cambridge offers visitors a wonderful day out. You will enjoy a guided walking tour around the city and its lovely University colleges with a team of local knowledgeable guides, before free time to explore the city for yourself.

Ticket price includes: return travel by coach (including set down on campus and in the centre of Brighton, upon return), a guided walking tour of the city, entry to King's College Chapel.

 

Stonehenge and Bath

Countryside walk to Stanmer Village

Date: Sunday, 31 March 2019

Time: 10:00 - 15:00

Price: Free

 Join International Student Support and the Buddy Scheme #oneworldsussexbuddies on a morning walk from campus. Discover the natural beauty of the South Downs that surrounds Sussex campus. The walk will finish in charming Stanmer Village, where you can take a break at a local cafe and enjoy a full English breakfast or some tea and scones, if you like.

Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance. Meal not included.

Additional tickets are available for members of the Buddy Scheme, via the Buddy Scheme website.

 

Seven Sisters and the Sussex Countryside

Date: Saturday, 6 April 2019

Time: 9:15 - 17:00

Price: £18.00

Here at the University of Sussex we are surrounded by the magnificant Sussex countryside, some parts of which aren't the easiest to access by public transport.  This trip will take you through the local countryside, along the beautiful coastline and South Downs National Park. Stops will inlcude Rottingdean, Cuckmere Haven, viewing the Seven Sisters at Birling Gap and Beachy Head, taking in the historic Pevensey Castle and beautiful English village of Alfriston where you explore the old streets, ancient church and enjoy a traditional English cream tea.

Please note, for this trip please bring a packed lunch, there will be the opportunity to buy food in Rottingdean.

Ticket price includes: travel by coach (including stops on campus and in the centre of Brighton) and Sussex trip leader. 

 

Walking through the South Downs

Date: Saturday, 13 April 2019

Time: 10:00 - 15:00

Price: £10.00

Enjoy a lovely walk through the South Downs countryside, this trip will take the train to Glynde where students will be lead through the South Downs over to Lewes. This will be followed by a walk around the popular English county town of Lewes with its deep and colourful history. The trip will finish with a visit to an English pub for lunch (optional).

Ticket price includes: return travel by train, Sussex trip leader, (lunch is not included)

 

Harry Potter ( A Warner Bros. Studio Tour)

Ever wanted to wander down Diagon Alley, fly a broomstick, or walk through the doors of Hogwart’s Great Hall? Well now is your chance! Many of the most famous sets from the Harry Potter series of films have been recreated for visitors to see including (amongst many others) Dumbledore’s office, the Great Hall, the Ministry of Magic and even the Weasley family kitchen! Hundreds of props and original costumes are also on display, making this a truly fantastic day out for any Potter fan. This is a collaborative trip with International Student support and the Student Union's Buddy Scheme #oneworldsussexbuddies .

Ticket price includes: return travel by coach (including set down on campus and in the centre of Brighton, upon return); entry to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. Food and drink is not included, and whilst a limited choice is available once there (including butter beer!) we recommend bringing a packed lunch on this trip.
