Find out what you must do if your visa has been refused or if there is a delay receiving it.

If your visa has been refused

You’ll get notification from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) if your application has been refused. This states the reasons for refusal and if you can ask for an administrative review. This means that UKVI may look again at your visa application.

Contact us if you get a refusal notice. We can advise you if the refusal is correct or if there has been an error with your application.

If we think it’s correct, we can explain why you were refused. In some cases, you can submit another application.

If your application is refused and we disagree with this, you can request an administrative review.

Reapplying

To reapply for a visa, you need a new Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

Before we can give you a new CAS, we may need to see further evidence.

For example, if the reason for the refusal was proof of funds, you will need to demonstrate that you meet the financial requirements of the visa.

If there’s a delay with your visa

If a visa refusal or visa processing delay means you won’t arrive at Sussex before the start of term, contact the office that sent your CAS.

They will advise you on any implications of arriving late.

Important: If you don’t get permission from us to arrive late, you should not travel to the UK.

If you can’t arrive by the latest enrolment date, we will advise you on your options, including deferring your studies.
