Admissions

Undergraduate

We accept a wide range of qualifications for entry to undergraduate degrees:

  • If you are at an international school and taking either A-levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), you should apply for entry to the first year.
  • If you have a College Diploma, you may qualify for entry to the second year. Your application will be considered carefully to assess the areas of study covered and the grades obtained.
  • If your qualifications do not meet our normal admissions requirements for the first year of an undergraduate degree, you may need to do an International Foundation Year. We also recognise Foundation courses from some other universities and colleges.

Postgraduate

We recognise undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from many countries for entry to postgraduate study.

  • For postgraduate taught degrees, you will normally need a qualification equivalent to a UK Bachelor degree (2:1 or 2:2)
  • For the Doctoral School, you will normally need a qualification equivalent to a UK Masters degree in a relevant discipline. You will also need to submit a research proposal.
  • If your qualifications do not meet our normal admissions requirements for a taught postgraduate degree, you may need to do a Pre-Masters. We also recognise Pre-Masters courses from some other universities and colleges.

Work experience is not required for most postgraduate degrees, but may be useful and can be taken into account. We will also review your personal statement carefully alongside academic qualifications when considering an application.
