New induction website for doctoral researchers launching in Spring 2017

As some of you may be aware, in response to feedback from the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) in 2015, one of the longer-term projects we've been working on in 2016 here at the Doctoral School is the development of an online induction website for new doctoral researchers.

Partly funded by Santander and with the support of the Technology Enhanced Learning team, the resource offers video and text-based material covering the first few months of starting a doctorate. This includes interviews with professional services staff around campus and top tips from existing doctoral researchers.

The content has been developed in response to input from a web survey that was sent to all current doctoral researchers, and further refined with the help of a focus group. We are also assisted by Maria Silvia D'Avolio, a second-year researcher, and Yumiko Kita, who recently submitted her thesis.

The beta site will be available in January 2017, with a full launch planned for February.
