Cumberland Lodge Scholarships 2017-19

Cumberland Lodge - an educational charity tackling social divisions by promoting creative thinking and inclusive dialogue - is currently accepting applications from doctoral researchers for its Cumberland Lodge Scholarship Scheme.

The scheme is a two-year programme designed to fit around your studies, offering a unique opportunity for doctoral researchers from any discipline to develop skills in communication, public engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Successful applicants will join the Lodge from September 2017 to September 2019. 

The scholarship involves:

  • Attendance at two conferences per year, an annual Scholars' Retreat, and Annual Lecture
  • Facilitation at events
  • Submission of a blog and newsletter article on conferences attended

Successful scholars will benefit from:

  • Mentoring in intellectual leadership
  • Involvement in cross-disciplinary debates on social and ethical issues
  • Training in communication and public engagement
  • Networking opportunities
  • A personal development grant of up to £300
  • Free food, accommodation and travel while staying at Cumberland Lodge
