British Council Newton-Bhabha PhD Placement Programme - Apply by 16th August

The British Council, India in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India have announced that applications are now being accepted for funding to support short-term PhD placements between UK and Indian institutions.

The Newton-Bhabha programme sponsors UK and Indian doctoral researchers to spend 2-4 months in Indian and UK higher education institutions between April to December 2017.

Applications are invited from doctoral researchers in STEM subjects, including the Grand Challenges areas and underpinning capabilities identified by the UK-India Task Force on Science and Innovation, which are:

  • Biological and medical sciences, including Life sciences, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Pharmacy and Veterinary Sciences
  • Engineering and Physical sciences, including Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Physical Mathematics, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences
  • Environment Food and Agricultural Sciences
  • Public health and wellbeing
