Sussex celebrates top-150 position in biggest-ever world rankings
The University of Sussex has been ranked 149th in the world in the latest international league table, retaining its top-150 position for the seventh successive year.
Sussex is 149th out of the top 980 universities in the world, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2017.
Sussex performs particularly well for its international outlook and its research influence, leaping to the world’s top 10 per cent for these categories.
Adam Tickell, University of Sussex Vice-Chancellor said: “If you walk around campus alongside our thousands of freshers this week, you can feel that we are an international university at our very heart.
“Students from 100 or so countries are making friends with each other, signing up to study or work abroad programmes, learning languages, debating global issues, and attending lectures by some of the brightest minds from all over the world.
"The influence of our research around the world is incredibly important to us, so I’m delighted that those who work so hard in this area are aware of the impact they’re making. Well done everyone.”

The THE World University Rankings are the only global university league tables to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
The University is also scoring highly at home, currently ranking in the top 20 of the three major UK league tables.
