Your chance to run or volunteer at the 2017 Brighton Marathon or 10K

More than 120 students, staff and alumni who love running have a guaranteed free place next April in the 2017 Brighton Marathon and 10K … and you still have a chance to join them!

Whether you have only ever run for the bus, or are an established marathon runner, we need your help to raise money for research being carried out at Sussex to prevent Podo – a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide, but is both treatable and preventable.

If you’re a keen runner — or someone who’s up for a challenge — register for the launch event next month or email b.loxton@sussex.ac.uk for further information.

Supporters are also required — if you would like to get involved by cheering the Sussex team on the day, we’ll be distributing sign-up sheets at the launch, so please register to come along on 17 October.

At the launch event will be our new Vice-Chancellor Adam Tickell, Podo expert and runner Professor Gail Davey, and former Olympic marathon runner Richard Nerurkar MBE.

Meet fellow runners and supporters, hear how your sponsorship money will be used to transform thousands of lives, and be inspired to take your running to the next level with top tips from Richard. Book here by Friday 30 September.

Sally Atkinson, Alumni Relations Manager, says: “The Sussex community is grouping together to do something incredible.

“More than 120 students, staff and alumni have already agreed to run either the marathon or 10km, which will raise thousands for Preventing Podo.

“We would love to see some more of our students and our colleagues join them on the starting line, or support us on the day.”
