New measures considered to improve equality and diversity at Sussex

A new report has been published for staff, looking deeper into the equality and diversity results of the Staff Survey 2014.

The report findings were achieved through confidential questionnaires and focus groups with an external facilitator to inform specific and targeted interventions to be approved by the Equality and Diversity Committee.

The review was conducted by Selwyn Blyth, an independent consultant specialising in diversity and management issues at work.

The report includes a set of suggested targeted interventions to make a positive difference in relation to Equalities and Dignity at Work.

These include proposed measures such as a code of conduct, compulsory staff training and an international staff forum.

These have been discussed by the University’s Equality and Diversity Committee and Vice-Chancellor’s Executive Group.

They will soon be considered in other fora such as the Professional Services Group, Senior Management Group and the University’s termly meetings with each of the recognised trade unions before a set of specific interventions are decided upon and prioritised for implementation.
