Aspiring Managers – The Sussex Programme

The Staff Development Unit is now accepting nominations for ‘Aspiring Managers – The Sussex Programme’ (formerly ‘So You Want to Be a Manager’).

Interested delegates and nominating managers are invited to attend an information workshop on Friday 26 February 2016 from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm in the Library’s Barlow Room.

The programme content has been revised and updated as part of a review of leadership and management training for staff at the University. This identified a need to equip future talent with a diverse range of skills and capabilities in the fast changing landscape within the University.

The Programme is a series of four full-day modules held over a total of four months from the beginning of April through to July.

  • Friday 15 April 2016 - The Role of the Sussex Aspiring Manager
  • Tuesday 10 May 2016 - Managing People and Teams
  • Friday 10 June 2016 - Coaching Conversations
  • Tuesday 7 July 2016 - The Change-Resilient Manager and Beyond

The programme will be delivered by Peter Storr, Director of The Psychological Manager Ltd who has delivered similar programmes for King’s College London, LSE and University of Sussex.

Nominations are encouraged for staff who are currently in administrative, technical or other support roles but who have the potential and ambition to progress to a management role here at Sussex. Please note that places are limited and only 14 nominations can be accepted. The deadline for nominations is Friday 11 March 2016. Full programme and further details are available on the SDU website or by emailing SDU.
