Images of study abroad in Spain win photo competition

A Sussex student who spent the academic year 2013-14 studying in Spain has won a University competition with photographs of her time abroad.

MadridMadrid 2Petra Peussa’s winning entries to the Study Abroad Photo Competition document the year that she spent at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid

Petra’s photos, chosen from this year’s record number of entries, show her celebrating with sporting teammates and highlight the beauty that Madrid has to offer.

The judging panel felt they demonstrated that Petra, now a final-year undergraduate in Anthropology and French & Spanish, had fully immersed herself in the Erasmus+ experience.

The second and third prizes went to:

  • Frederick Miller - a final-year undergraduate in American Studies and History, who studied in Chicago, USA
  • Camilla Di Renzo - a Film Studies and French finalist, who studied in Paris.

An exhibition of all 48 entries to this year’s Study Abroad Photo Competition is on display in the social space on the ground floor of the Fulton building until Wednesday (5 November).

Approximately 250 Sussex students spend either a term or a full academic year abroad as part of their degree at universities with which Sussex has exchange partnerships in Asia, Australia, Europe and North, Central and South America.

As part of Sussex Choice, students are encouraged to make the most of their course, broaden their studies and consider opportunities to study abroad
