Students set for summer study in Asia
A record number of Sussex students are spending the summer in Asia, benefitting from scholarships awarded by Sussex to encourage participation in summer schools at prestigious institutions linked to the University.
Twenty-two undergraduates – twice as many as in 2013 – have this month flown out to China, Hong Kong and South Korea.
The majority are studying at partner institutions that have student exchange agreements with Sussex. This includes three students taking part in the annual summer school at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). The University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CUHK in December 2013.
Also in China, five Sussex students are visiting Renmin University and a further five are at Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, also a student exchange partner.
Some of the students have set up social media accounts to share their experiences. You can follow:
- Olly Davies’ Imgur and Twitter feed
- Vanessa Omnou’s Instagram feed
- Bluinse Thomas’s YouTube account
Staff will also be sharing content and retweeting posts by other students on the Sussex Abroad Twitter feed.
The University has purposefully strengthened its ties with institutions around the world in recent years.
The creation of international partnerships is a key part of the University’s strategy for 2013-18 and the University aims to foster collaboration with a range of leading research-intensive institutions world-wide to achieve this objective.
