Sussex seeks applications to Researcher-Led Initiative fund

Putting on a conference? Looking for support for an event for researchers? Funds are available from the Doctoral School for researcher-led initiatives.

The University's internal Researcher-Led Initiative (RLI) fund was launched in April 2012 to fund peer-led professional- development activities for Sussex researchers.

The 19 successful bids since then had several things in common: they were all innovative, multi- or inter-disciplinary, and catered for researchers at many career levels (doctoral, staff, faculty) across multiple schools of study.

The current call is for activities that are already in progress that you are seeking some support for; the funds must be spent by 31 July 2014.

The Doctoral School are keen to sponsor initiatives that benefit a broad range of researchers (across disciplines and career stages).

You may seek funding for activities that expand, complement or build on current provision for researchers;

Applications to the RLI fund are invited from researchers of all career stages: doctoral researchers, research staff, and members of faculty.

However, funding will not be given for travel, course or conference attendance, or staffing costs. Similarly, research projects are outside the scope of this funding stream.

The Doctoral School would normally expect applications to be for less than £1,000, although applications that exceed this amount will be considered.

Please refer to the guidance notes and application forms at: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/doctoralschool/internal/funding/rli

You can email researcher-development@sussex.ac.uk with any queries.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 2 May.

The Doctoral School will call for applications to the RLI fund again in the autumn term.
