UniTV up for nine national awards

UniTV, the Students' Union's student-run TV station, has entered nine categories in the National Student Television Association (NaSTA) awards:

Winners will be announced on 21 April.

On YouTube you can watch UniTV’s entry for the Best Broadcaster category, in which the team showcases the station's productions and reflects on the biggest achievements and challenges from the past year.

It features founding members Alex Anpilogov and Max Ivanov and current members, talking about how UniTV created its first live broadcast, regained momentum after having a tough time during Freshers Week and produced award-winning content.

The video is a mix of content produced by more than 40 members of UniTV from the past year.

The showreel also features Tori Cherry-Downes (Students' Union Marketing & Events Manager) and Chris Effner (University of Sussex Media Stores Manager), who played crucial roles in helping to develop UniTV.

In 2011 UniTV won NaSTA awards in three categories: Title Sequence, Open category (highly commended) and the first ever award for Freshers Coverage.

Presenter Fernand Frimpong Jnr came third in the On-Screen Male category and UniTV's Diwali 2010 coverage also came third, in the Light Entertainment category.
