New finance system from February

Do you manage a budget as part of your job? Or do you sometimes need to claim back expenses?

If so, the way in which you do this will change from February 2012. That’s because a new finance system is being launched.

You’ll also use the new system if you buy goods and services as part of your job - or if you sell them!

And if you make business-related purchases using a University debit or credit card, the new finance system will change the way you do that, too.

If you are someone who is likely to be a frequent user of the new system, you will be emailed in December or January with information about the scheduled training sessions.

Less frequent users who don’t need to attend the workshops will have access to training materials (web-based and paper-based) and to advice from 'expert users'.

These expert users are staff from all areas of the University and will be on hand to assist you during the roll-out of the system and once it has been launched.

Information is also available online at www.sussex.ac.uk/finance/newfinancesystem If you can’t find what you need there, email financesystems@sussex.ac.uk with your question or query.

Carey McLaughlin, Head of Corporate Accounting Services, says: “The current system was developed in 1995 and, although it is a robust system, it is no longer fit for purpose.

“The new finance system will enable us to make many improvements in processing payments and reporting financial information.”
