Religious staff and students asked for views

Next Article | Contents

Members of staff and students are being asked to help universities nationwide become more inclusive by completing an online survey on their religion and belief.

The Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) has commissioned the Religion and Belief in Higher Education research project to “inform the further development of more inclusive policy and practice within the higher education sector that meets legal obligations while also extending good practice”.

Staff and students at Sussex can take part on the University of Derby website. It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and is open until 9 December.

The questions focus on three areas:

The results will be used to create a report for the ECU, due to be published early in 2011, and will also be presented at an event for the higher education sector.

The University is also taking part in an ECU and Leadership Foundation for Higher Education project aiming to further disability equality for staff in higher education. Disabled staff employed at Sussex can take part by completing a questionnaire, taking approximately 30 minutes. To find out more, refer to the NIACE website - the closing date is 17 December.
