Tennis tournament is tiring

Next Article | Contents

The day after playing 49 games of mixed-doubles tennis over three and a half hours, tournament organizer Ray Francke (Life Sciences) commented: "I could hardly walk last night - but boy did I sleep well."

Retired staff member Pauline O'Reilly (centre) presented the O'Reilly Cup to the two winners after the annual tournament on 26 September.

Pauline said: "It was a great day and we were so lucky to get in all 49 games before it rained."

Alison Field (Press & Communications) beat Dr Cherith Moses (Geography, right) by just one point to retain the women's title.

The 2010 men's champion was Charlie Baines (a History of Art undergraduate from 1979-82). On the far left of the picture is the men's runner-up, Psychology DPhil student Stephen Jeffs.
