Most new students will, by now, have been vaccinated against the C strain of meningitis - if not, contact the Health Centre. The vaccine does not protect against the B strain for meningococcal meningitis, so it is important to be vigilant about the symptoms. The biggest problem is that most of the early symptoms are mild and similar to those you get with flu or even a hangover - for example:
