‘Stop smoking’ sessions for staff
Sussex staff who smoke can get help to quit this month by attending two free sessions on campus run by the NHS.
A smoking cessation specialist will be on hand to provide free nicotine replacement therapy, free carbon monoxide testing, as well as advice and support.
The sessions are part of the Department of Health’s ‘Stoptober’ campaign, which is encouraging smokers nationwide to ditch the habit during the month of October. Experts say that those who manage not to smoke for the whole month are five times more likely to stop for good.
The sessions will be held in the first-aid rest room in the Hastings building – staff can drop in for a 10-minute consultation on 9 October (between 9.30am and 12 noon) or on 18 October (between 12 noon and 3pm).
Managers are being asked to be flexible where possible to allow staff to attend.
