Biography

Martin holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science (3D Computer Graphics) from the University of Sussex, where he is also a Reader in Computer Science since 2003.  His research interestes include digital heritage systems, motion capture systems; he is currently working with American Express investigating mobile technologies, social media, payments, rewards, big data, and IoT in the digital economy.

Community and Business

I engage in business outreach activities, such as University based consultancies in digital heritage (e.g.with the Victoria and Albert Museum, Immersive Displays Ltd) and with Animazoo UK, a leading motion sensing animation company. I am currently working with American Express on a UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB) — Collaborating Across Digital Industries project: Connecting virtual communities to the digital economy through micropayment technologies.

Student Consultation

For UG and PG projects I usually reserve Friday mornings for project consultations.  Individual prearranged time slots between 10am and 1pm will be assigned on week1, week 2, week 4, week 6, week 8, week 10 and week 12 of Term 1. In term 2 student consultation will be by appointment.

However, in general my door can always be knocked on when seeking help and advice.
