The model of field theory has been applied successfully to lexical fields like terms related to family relationships, colours, etc. This paper explores how the model of field theory can be applied to the set of 'cooking' verbs in the Portuguese language as it has already been done for the English set of the same verbs. Comparisons are made between the two sets in order to show how these languages have different ways to transmit the cultures of which they are the means of expression.
