Biography
Aaron graduated from the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David in 2016 where he won the Helen MacCormack-Turner Undergraduate Memorial Scholarship. He went on to study an MA in Contemporary History at the University of Sussex after winning the Chancellor's Scholarship.
Aaron’s doctoral research examines how (and whether) welfare legislation is used to condition collective modes of thought, particularly focusing on the impact upon everyday lived reality. The particular case study being used is the nineteenth century Poor Laws forming a dialogue across time with austerity today. The research is being supervised across two schools by Prof. Darrow Schecter in the School of History, Art History and Philosophy and by Dr. Samuel Knafo in the school of International Relations.
Aaron’s undergraduate dissertation examined the impact of the nineteenth-century Poor Laws in Britain upon labour markets in Manchester, while his MA dissertation examined the rise of Neoliberalism in Britain, its current state today and its potential future fall. Here, he suggested that a temporal social network (in part, taking influence from Actor Network Theory) can be used as if to reimagine history, considering it as a study of time, to reimagine a history of the future. This line of enquiry is also going to be considered in his doctoral research.
