Sign up now for the Staff Summer Party on 5 July

Last year's inaugural summer party proved a real hit with the 800 Sussex staff who attended. This year the party is set to be a fun afternoon.

Vice-Chancellor, Adam Tickell, said: “I’d love it if you could take some time out of your busy working day and join me on 5 July for our very own take on the classic summer fete. I know how hard staff work here at Sussex, and you deserve a few hours to let your hair down.

“The University events team have made a real effort to cater to the widest possible range of tastes this year. With the range of activities on offer, I’m sure there’ll be a really good turnout. Spaces are due to get booked up quickly, so please register for your place now.”

From 1pm on the day, complimentary food and soft drinks will be served in a large marquee and staff will be able to test their mettle against the Totally Wiped Out inflatable obstacle course before heading back inside, where there will be prizes for the star players.

Staff will then be invited to join a barn dance - no experience required and amusement guaranteed. For those who could do with a sit-down at this stage, a raffle will take place, featuring dozens of prizes from local businesses. So far these include:

  • Spa treatment for two at Harbour Hotel
  • Afternoon tea for two at Hotel du Vin
  • One night stay, B&B, in the Bridal Suite and Pelham House
  • Two tickets for Krater Comedy Club
  • Many more prizes coming soon

Food options on the day

Hopefully there should be something for everyone, with a huge range of activities on offer, including:

  • Crazy golf
  • Bungee run
  • Test your strength
  • Inflatable slide
  • Bouncy castle
  • Giant outdoor games
  • Popcorn and candy floss
  • Fairground stalls
  • Zorb football
  • Dodgeball

The deadline for registering to attend the event is Monday 3 July.
