Studying Gender at Sussex
Teaching in Gender Studies is spread across a variety of subject boundaries such as Sociology, Law, Media and Film, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, English, History of Art and International Relations. In undergraduate modules and the taught MA, students engage with a variety of specialist committed faculty working across a range of different areas.
Taught MA and research supervision
Undergraduate students are able to take Gender Studies modules through the university options and electives systems. These modules develop students' knowledge of gender as a category of analysis, beginning with general introductory material and progressing on to more focused and specialised study. If you are interested in taking Gender Studies modules as part of your degree, speak to your 'home' department in the first instance. They should be able to tell you which Gender modules you may be able to take.
At postgraduate level prospective students can apply for taught MAs or DPhil study online. The postgraduate prospectus can be found here, and the online application form can be found here. Please also look at the information on funding your studies.
