The Dalziel family were active from 1839 \u2013 1893. They produced the much-loved images for Lewis Carroll\u2019s <em>Alice <\/em>books, illustrated by John Tenniel, and illustrations for works by Dickens, Christina Rossetti, Anthony Trollope and Hans Christian Andersen.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will last approximately 2 1\/2 hours. During the afternoon, Nancy Campbell will read from her Forward-Prize shortlisted collection <em>Disko Bay<\/em>, and talk about her residency in Upernavik Museum in Greenland, bringing her work into dialogue with the Dalziels\u2019 images of the Arctic<i>.\u00a0<\/i>Bethan Stevens will talk about wood engraving and illustration, focusing on the Dalziels&#8217; images of seascapes<em>. <\/em>Together they will facilitate creative writing activities inspired by the British Museum\u2019s collection.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy Campbell is a poet, visual artist and editor of <i>Oxford Poetry<\/i>. Bethan Stevens is a Lecturer in Creative and Critical Writing at the University of Sussex, and is leading the Dalziel Project.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop is funded by the AHRC, in collaboration with the British Museum and the University of Sussex. Workshop participants will be invited to submit work for publication on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/english\/dalziel\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We will be making an audio recording of the workshop, solely for purposes of reporting on the outcomes of the project (no creative work or personal information will be shared in such reports).
