Student support

The Student Life Centre offers information and advice to all Sussex Students.  Their aim is to help you to gain the best university experience you can, whatever your circumstances, by ensuring if you run into problems you get appropriate guidance and support.

Student Advisors

The University employs Student Advisors to help students with a variety of issues, including what to do after late submission of work.

If you had good reasons for late submission, the Advisor may recommend you should apply to the Mitigating Evidence Committee. You may need to supply documentary evidence (e.g. a doctor's certificate).

To make an appointment to see a Student Advisor, please contact the Student Life Centre.

You are alloacted an academic advisor and will be invited to meet them when you start.

Your academic advisor will be listed on Sussex Direct.

If you have a question or issue relating to your teaching, learning or wider student experience at Sussex, you can contact the student rep for your cohort.

If you are interested in becoming a PG student rep you can find more details on our 'Becoming a student rep' web page.

Your Student Advisor may recommend that you intermit. Intermission means that you cease study for a period, (normally a year) and return a year later to complete your Master's programme.

There is a deadline for applications for intermission. You cannot apply later than two weeks before the deadline date of your final assessment. For Master's students this is the deadline date of your main Project/Dissertation.
