About the department

Our department has an international reputation for outstanding teaching and applied research particularly in the areas of development, energy, poverty, labour and trade.

Studying Economics gives you an excellent grounding for a career in your field of interest – our graduates are employed in a wide range of sectors including government, economics consultancy, banking and NGOs.

Regularly publishing their work in some of the top economics journals in the world, our academics also integrate their research into teaching so that students learn how to apply economic theory to contemporary topics.
