Library Research Support
The Library has a small team, Research Support, who are dedicated to supporting researchers at Sussex. Our main roles are to make sure the Library's collections meet the needs of researchers and to provide support in using these resources effectively.
We offer bookable 1-2-1 sessions where we can meet at a time that suits you to discuss how the Library can best support your research – we can come out to your office or meet with you in the Library's Research Hive. The sessions are flexible and tailored to suit you and your specific research interests. We can look at:
- An overview of the Library resources in your area
- Search strategy - how to find the most relevant results and save yourself time by using alerts to keep up to date
- Bibliometrics and citation data – using citations to support your funding applications

Research Hive
The Research Hive provides a space solely for the use of researchers (doctoral, staff, and faculty). Located on the second floor of the Library, it contains desk spaces, PCs and Macs for private study. The Hive includes two bookable meeting rooms and informal discussion space.
The Hive also plays host to researcher-related events and has featured presentations by a SAGE publisher on how to get published and smaller discussion workshops on academic writing and becoming an Associate Tutor.
The Hive is organised in conjunction with the Doctoral School and the Library's Research Support team and is facilitated by three Hive Scholars, current doctoral researchers at the university, who are on hand to deal with requests and who also organise the events that operate within the space.
